This is the first installment of our new Tip of the Month! I hope to provide a new tip or trick every month for our DIY'ers out there.
Did you know that closing your blinds mid-day will not only keep your home cooler but also save energy? Closing your blinds by mid-day will reduce wear and tear on your air conditioning unit because the house will stay cooler through the warmest hours of the day, eliminating the need for your unit to work harder. Not only will your wallet thank you, your air conditioner will too! Also, most ceiling fans have a summer and winter switch. Is yours in the correct position?

This is one of our latest projects. This screened in porch and deck area is 18' X 19'-8" with 2 ceiling fans and a coffered ceiling. (This photo is pre-paint).
